Fall Festival

MDF and CDF went to the MnM Fall festival this week. MDF was dressed up in a cat suit — “tiger” as she said — and looked very cute.

MDF and Mackenzie

CDF had this comment about the picture:

Here is MDF with her friend Mackenzie. Mackenzie will turn 3 on Monday, Oct. 24th. After this picture was taken, the girls turned to each other & MDF informed Mackenzie that she was a tiger & Mackenzie told MDF she was a princess. They then ran around the room & hid under the table that I was setting up for the mom’s group. They had a great time together!

She also got more pictures of MDF after the party. This is one of the best.

A happy cat!

These are just cute & I have been wanting to get some pictures of her dressed in a fall outfit with a background similar to this…but so far I have not been able to. So, I thought it perfect for her to be dressed as a tiger-cat with fall background! Took the opportunity when it presented itself!

Celebrating Matt’s Birthday

This past weekend we celebrated Matt’s birthday (and Dom’s any my birthdays too I guess) out at CDF’s parents’ place. CDF made us some chocolate cupcakes and Dom brought out some sodas and we had a little party/get-together.

We mostly caught up and what had been going on since it had been a while since we had all gotten together. It wasn’t the first time we’d been together since Matt moved to the trailer on 258, but it was the first Birthday he had celebrated since moving out of Kenwood.

Expounding on a topic

We even had a walk down the road — for old times sake — to see if we could spot any horses for MDF. Then before everyone left, we took a group photo.

Two Years Old

MDF turned two today! Yesterday we celebrated her birthday with a party and invited a bunch of people. Of the friends her age we invited Alex and Alison Shultz, Tyler and Anna Kate Kilpatrick, and Nicholas Croom. We also invited the Moores, Mrs. Joy, and all our extended family.

Picnic in the Kitchen

I think everything went really well. Because of the rain, we had the picnic inside on the kitchen floor, and they had peanut butter and jelly “uncrustable” sandwiches, chips, and cake. CDF made up some punch too for everyone to drink.

Eating Cake

MDF got a lot of nice presents. She got at least two kitchen toy sets, four wooden puzzles, a rain jacket, some books, and a singing caterpillar toy made by Leap Frog. CDF also gave her the bug/Clifford quilt she had made a while back. And my parents gave her the children’s Bible we had picked out.

All Her Presents

Also I want to mention the two cakes CDF made. After a lot of hard work she finally turned out two very pretty cakes (I helped by frosting them!).

MDF’s Words

Last week MDF had a cold and we were running the humidifier in her room during nap time and at night. When I got home from work the first day after CDF had run the humidifier during MDF’s nap, MDF wanted to show me something. So we went to her room so she could show me the “menufier.” She wasn’t sure if she liked it or not, but was definitely impressed by it and wanted to tell me all about the “menufier.”

Escapades

Even though we thought we were ready for it MDF still surprises us when she does something new.

Tropical Storm Ophelia

Our first storm this year. It doesn’t look too bad, and I’m hoping for the best. After Katrina hit New Orleans two weeks ago I think everyone is a little jumpy.

Fall Season Again

For Labor Day CDF and I had family and friends over for a hot dog cookout. I cooked hotdogs and the others brought sides and desserts. We started about 5:00 PM and the last to leave — Dom, Amber, Heidi, and her roommate Brandy — were out by 8:00 PM.

It was a beautiful day, mostly sunny during the morning with a few clouds in the afternoon, and it was nice and cool. The temperature has gone down to the 60’s and 70’s lately and it’s been very nice outside. It was just a nice day to be outside.

We had spent the morning doing yard work. I finished up trimming the grass around the yard, and then worked on getting rid of one of the holly bushes on the side of the house. CDF weeded the flower beds and raked pine needles. Finally MDF helped me take the grass clippings to the back of the dog pen. We fill the recycling crate with handfuls of grass and then I carry them back to dump it. MDF does a really good job helping me with that.

Outside

Yesterday evening MDF and I went outside to blow off steam while CDF fixed supper. While she was swinging I was looking at our “false Morning Glory” plant and noticed it was attracting lots of butterflies and bugs that were feeding on its flowers.

Oww

So I was on my way to work and I had to stop for gas. While I was pumping a bug landed in between my collar and my neck. It didn’t feel big, but I tried to brush it out and that’s when I felt it grab my finger with its little legs and … OUCH… it stung me! Right on the index finger too. I never did see what it was, but since it didn’t leave the stinger in my finger it must have been a wasp or hornet. I joked when I got to work that if it hadn’t been my left hand I would have had to call in sick since I wouldn’t be able to use my mouse. 😉

I took some ibuprofen (from the bunny dispenser), but it’s still throbbing and is making it hard to type.

Sunday Afternoon

Yesterday afternoon we went for a bike ride. It was quite sunny, so
CDF got everyone’s sunglasses out of the van. MDF had hers
too. As we rode, she would look at me and grin, and was very cute.

We went around the neighborhood streets between Campbell and Hwy 117,
and rode for longer than we normally do. We also went down some streets
I hadn’t seen before, Linda Ln., etc. And saw a number of nice houses too.

It has been a nice relaxing weekend.
