Fall Festival

CDF sent an email yesterday about us going to a fall festival:

Last night we went to a friend’s church that was holding a Fall Festival. MDF wanted to be Snow White. For CEF, we had a princess dress sack, that matched her hat — but it was too large for her. So, I put her in a Princess sleeper suit and added the hat. It worked out fine. Tuesday night we’ll be doing a local Fall Festival up the road. MDF will be in a different outfit and I doubt CEF will be dressed up then.

New Bern Conference

This year we all went up to New Bern for the IIPS conference. This was the second time we’ve been there together, but the first time for CEF. Actually it was the first time we have traveled anywhere with CEF. Both girls did great of course.

I was a little worried about the sleeping arrangements, specifically that we’d all be in one room and that CDF and I would not have anywhere to take CEF if she got fussy at night. As it turned out, I didn’t need to worry at all. MDF slept right through anything CEF did at night. MDF even slept through CEF’s crying on the drive home, and they were sitting beside each other then. So I didn’t need to worry.

MDF’s Birthday Party

We had MDFs big birthday party yesterday. CDF had invited a lot of MDFs friends, although many of them were not able to make it. But we did have a good crowd, even if it was mostly adults.

CDF made a doll cake and a flat cake, both strawberry flavored with vanilla frosting decorated with pink sprinkles. She and MDF had picked all this out a while back.

The Doll Cake

MDF’s birthday party theme was “Princesses” and we had planned on having a dress-up party before the birthday party, but the ones invited were not able to make it. But we still let MDF wear her dress for the rest of the party. CDF had gotten her a Cinderella dress, and this was the first time she had worn it. Of course she liked it very much.

She Loves Her Cinderella Dress

MDF got a lot of presents yesterday, more than we expected. She got some ponies from Heidi, a growth chart from Dom and Amber, a tea set from Galina, a story/song book from Lauren Moore, an alphabet puzzle from Skyler, a book from Mrs. Joy, and boots and an outfit from Janet.

Over all I think MDF had a great third birthday party.

More Birthday Pictures

Mackenzie gave MDF two gifts: a stamp and book set and a “Disney Princesses” baby carrier. MDF carried a baby cat in the carrier, but it’s a cute picture.

MDF and the carrier

CDF made some delicious cupcakes — strawberry with vanilla icing. I know they were from a mix, but they were good. MDF liked them too, and had asked for pink sprinkles to go on the icing when they were planning what type of cake to have. So that’s what she’s eating in the next picture.

A number of months ago, CDF found a “Disney Princesses” twin sheet set (see a pattern here), and we had forgotten about it until recently. Needless to say, MDF was quite excited to get this present.

Love the sheets!

Riverfest 2006

Yesterday afternoon we went to riverfront in Wilmington for the annual Riverfest. We had decided not to go, but then at church we learned that Lauren Moore was going to be dancing. So we rushed home, ate a quick lunch, and headed back to Wilmington.

MDF is Three Years Old

It’s MDF’s birthday today! It’s been amazing to see her grow and develop. Just looking at pictures, I can see how much she has changed each year.

Pretty Flowers

Yesterday MDF and Carolyn (um, I mean Beanie) were picking flowers from the wild Morning Glory plants that were blooming in the soy bean field across the road from their house. I had taken MDF for a ride in the red truck a little while earlier and on the way back we picked a couple of flowers, because there were not any blackberries to pick.

After we got back though, MDF wanted to go pick more, so she and Beanie went and picked a bunch. She was quite pleased with her bouquet.

Sleeping on the Couch

I was getting ready for work Monday morning. CEF had just finished eating and CDF had put her down to go do something. CEF was just content to lay on the couch and sleep and I thought it was funny how she had positioned her head.

In the Big Bed

Saturday night was the first night we put CEF in her crib. Up until
now she has been sleeping in a bassinet in our room. We never did
that with MDF, but this time CDF wanted CEF in our room.
After five weeks it has been nice to be able to have the light on and
not worry about being as quiet so we won’t wake the baby in the room.

CEF’s Baptism

CEF was baptized yesterday — one month old. A lot of family showed up, from both sides: our parents, Janet and Philip, Dom and Amber, Heidi, etc. Ivan brought along a friend, Seth Davis, and one of Gideon’s deaf friends was there too. Vance and Pat Moore and their daughter Lauren also came.

CEF and Pastor John

John preached on baptism, and then CEF was baptized at the end of the sermon. She was good for him, even had her eyes open while he held her.

Thanks to Dom for taking these pictures.
